Nick Lazzarini is pulled from his choreography role at the Nederlands Dans Theater after HuffPost reported allegations of sexual misconduct.
Lazzarini is the co-founder of the Dutch National Ballet and former soloist and artistic director of the New York City Ballet.
“Nick’s conduct is not consistent with what we are trying to instill in our company, and these allegations concerning behavior related to a previous work place job have been brought to my attention. I am therefore making the decision to suspend Nick in order to address these matters and ensure a safe and supportive working environment for our dancers and company.” Co-Artistic Director Caspar Willem de Kunz said in a statement Monday.
Lazzarini was scheduled to choreograph a mixed bill that includes “Allegro Brillante,” which was due to begin a tour in New York on September 27.
HuffPost spoke to four women who accused Lazzarini of sexual misconduct that dates back more than 15 years.
